Counting in Giak
Language overview
The Giak language is an artificial language that serves as a common tongue for all the creatures serving the Darklords of Helgedad. It appears in the Lone Wolf gamebook series written by Joe Dever, in which the reader makes choices through the story, changing the course of it, and is more developed in the book The Magnamund Companion.
Due to lack of data, we can only count accurately up to 99 in Giak. Please contact me if you can help me counting up from that limit.

Giak numbering rules
Now that you’ve had a gist of the most useful numbers, let’s move to the writing rules for the tens, the compound numbers, and why not the hundreds, the thousands and beyond (if possible).
- Digits from one to nine are specific words: aki [1], ig [2], ga [3], rorag [4], ishrak [5], narga [6], na [7], sha [8], and shak [9].
- The tens are quite irregular, sometimes following a phonetic change pattern (-ak to -az), or the addition of a specific suffix (-oz), or concatenating digits names: ishrakig [10] (concatenation of the words for five and two, meaning five times two), gogoz [20], gagaz [30], roraz [40], izraz [50], nizgaz [60], nazgiz [70], shazoz [80], and shakoz [90].
- Teens are formed by stating the word for teen (da), followed by the digit separated with a hyphen (e.g.: da-ga [13]).
- The compound numbers above twenty are formed by stating the ten and the digit name separated with a hyphen (e.g.: gogoz-ig [22], nazgiz-sha [78]).
