Alison Long

With a PhD in Russian language change between 1800 and 2000, Alison Long joined the Keele University in the UK where she teaches English among other academic occupations. Her research interests are language change (specifically in the Slavonic languages), endangered languages and language policy, and language construction. She speaks three languages besides English: Russian, Slovenian, and Swedish. She created the Illitan language for the BBC’s adaptation of China Miéville’s The City and The City.
