The Kryptonian language is a constructed language spoken on Krypton, a language Kal-El, aka Superman, is the most reknown speaker of. The Kryptonian alphabet released by DC Comics in 2000 is a mere substitution scheme (each of its letter matches a letter from the English alphabet). It evolved a bit in the TV show Smallville, but no real language has been officially created yet. However, starting in 2003, Darren Doyle, a linguist from University of Texas Austin, developed a fully-fledged language with its own grammar from this alphabet. On a side note, Kryptonian should not be confused with Kryptonese, which is a set of squiggles used in the Superman comics of the 70s, later on collected together by E. Nelson Bridwell into a 118 letters alphabet.
